In addition to gangs, Mick becomes aware of the world of promoters, DJs, drug dealers, and right-wing racists that are in and around the scene. Mick takes up with Clare, a peroxide blonde who is not scared of the ever-increasing violence that surrounds them. But is she who she appears to be? As one might expect in a world of amphetamine-fuelled, drunken teenagers, there are hilarious moments that culminate in an explosive ending. Allen writes in an engaging style. He has been immersed in the mod / scootering world for most of his life and speaks from experience with a keen eye for detail.
