Blood, Sweat, Leather & Tears –
The Original Adam & The Ants story
1977-80 (Part Two)
Get ready for part two of this incredible journey following the best band in the world. Adam and the Ants have survived the mean streets of London and are more stylish and subversive than before. They have also gained enough experience, built up a loyal following, and are now ready to take Ant Music on tours nationwide. The Ants Crew and the band find themselves on an even more exciting and dangerous journey. There are more well-attended gigs but with that brings more trouble from an array of different tribes who are out to stop the Ants Invasion at any cost. Share their adventures and misfortunes and see how this tight-knit camaraderie would often save the day. This is the continuing story of how these kids managed to follow their favourite band around the country while often finding themselves in dangerous situations where rampaging Skinheads would turn up to attack them at gigs or perverts lurked in the shadows looking for youths in all-night cafés, train stations or hitchhiking to and from gigs. Sometimes you could wake up in a house with no people in it and wonder how you got there? These kids loved Adam and the Ants and no one was going to stop them from following the band people loved to hate. Finally… meet The Ants. What were they really like?

OUR JORDAN TRIBUTE
I’ve just been told of the passing of Jordan Mooney. To say I’m shocked is an understatement. I thought Jordan was indestructible. Not quite sure what to say to be honest
I’m not going to use such a word as a legend because it feels like a fake compliment when you look at most of the other legends… maybe iconic?
Jordan was a truly remarkable woman. She was unique, a pioneer who copied no one but inspired thousands; men and women. In the future, if we have a future and these greedy self-serving bar stewards haven’t destroyed the planet, when people Google (or whatever the future search engines are) – if they type in Punk Rock, Fashion, Cats, or any other thing she contributed to one of the first names shown will be Jordan because she was an integral cog in anything she contributed to. I feel it is your peers and your nearest and dearest to assess whether your time on earth has been a positive experience as they know you better than anyone and I can clearly say it was a life well lived and loved and will make Jordan Mooney immortal.
I still remember walking into Seditionaries (Vivienne and Malcolm’s shop) after hearing the stories in music papers about this fearsome assistant; only to be greeted with a smile. She even let me off with £1. I reminded her years later and she asked for it back. This will be a shock for anyone who was around the Sex Pistols or the early Adam and the Ants gigs and all the people who knew her through punk connections. She mothered all those original Ants fans who were only 13 /14 years old and made sure they were ok. I interviewed Jordan at Hebden Bridge for a documentary I was doing and it was such a great night I was hoping to do it again in the future.
My last correspondence with her was when my book came out. She congratulated me and I sent her a copy. I hope it cheered her up
Jordan Mooney’s favourite Ants song was ‘Zerox’. I think I’m gonna give it a blast, maybe she’ll hear it on the other side and smile knowing people are thinking of her.
